. brittany morehouse picks up the story and joins us live from greenbelt. brittany. >> reporter: anita, this is one of those stories where it just goes to show you don't have to know someone's name to really feel like you know someone. all of the young people in this apartment building off greenbelt road which is right near the nasa building talk about this woman who was killed found dead outside her old doorstep. she apparently was coming back here today to collect some belongings. >> it's sad because i knew her. she lived around here for a long time. >> reporter: no name, no picture. people who knew the woman found dead outside her old apartment are remembering her with fondness. she was especially sweet, they say, to young people. >> it's scary. in a neighborhood like this. especially when you have kids. this is some scary things. >> reporter: many people were frightened when they saw the woman hanging outside of the apartment complex. they say she was lying down in the ground in a pool of blood. >> it looked like she probably fainted and one hand was out like halfway like where the

. that shooting spree may have been motivated by an attempt to silence a witness. this car may have been used. two men have been taken into custody at the same address, one earlier today, one tonight. police have also recovered some weapons there, but it's not known if they were used in today's shooting spree. that gun battle happened around noon at the funeral services for murder victim ashley mccreigh. among the 600 people, rival gang members. >> suspects opened fire on the individuals in that car. >> reporter: the victims may have returned fire themselves before fleeing at high speed in this dodge durango, but they clipped this mercedes and then crashed into a parked van. inside the dodge, one man survived. another did not. it's not clear if he was killed by gunshots or the crash. 9news now has learned the identity of the dead man. he is jamal kotts of northwest ds. he has known jamal for years and the man known as big pon was running scared. >> he's been very worried. he witnessed the shooting that was on mozart beach a month to a month half ago. >> he was scared for his life? >> he was defini

and brought more than 70 rescuers to the scene, some using the so-called jaws of life to cut four passengers from the bus. not easy. >> we had to stabilize the bus prior to beginning the exterication. >> reporter: a triage area was set up on the road, victims young and old. the 66-year-old bus driver, joseph claybah jr., of hanover, pennsylvania, died. 11 passengers were hospitalized. they were just returning from a trip from the national mall and the national zoo. >> we're still working on identification from the persons on board. i don't have any names to give you or anything like that. >> reporter: two cars collided when the bus dropped to the road. one person in that accident was hospitalized. drivers were not allowed on 270 north from the inner loop. those entering from the outer loop crawled. >> going on two hours, i'm still stuck. >> this is extremely bad. >> from silver springs to where we are now, it's about 2 1/2 hours. >> reporter: it was taken to the montgomery county police impound lot for police investigation. >> we will not have the cause of the crash for days, and possibly we
